Welcome To Our Community

"We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right."       -Nelson Mandela-

We are a small non-profit from Richland County working in Richland County to make our home a better place. The Mary McLeod Bethune Intervention and Enrichment Center [MBIE] has served the underprivileged of Richland County since it received its 501c3 in 1995. Over the years, the MBIE has partnered with various organizations to deliver services that benefit a wide spectrum of clientele including: senior citizens, veterans, and low to moderate income families.

NEW FREEDOM TRANSPORTATION

Area residents who don't have dependable transportation can use MBIE's New Freedom transportion services to make it to evening and weekend appoointments, shopping trips, family visits, and other destinations. Service is available after hours and on weekends

when regular public transportation isn't available. By calling MBIE in advance, you can travel for less than the cost in a taxicab!   Click here for more information.

MBIE offers a variety of volunteer opportunities available for those who wish to give back to their community. Whether you are interested in helping out just one time for a few hours, or you want to get involved in a long-term project, we'll find a job that's the right fit for you.

Visit our volunteer page or click here to send an e-mail request for more information. We would also like to hear any ideas or suggestions you might have for future MBIE projects!

"YES WE CAN!"

MBIE's Senior Citizens Center provides a safe meeting place for area seniors to enjoy food and fellowship. Our regular meetings have been temporarily relocated to the newly acquired BRAC Armory on Hedges St. while the Carter Plaza is being remodeled. Click Here for more information.
